Easy to use and great at making cheese as welll as yogurt.
This is really easy to use and comes with clear instructions. If you intend making greek yoghurt, i’d recommend this rather than cheaper yogurt makers as it includes a strainer that sits inside the housing. This is much easier than fiddling around with muslin over a bowl. Also, easy to clean and store.
Product is good but first time i used it, it didn’t set. My fault as i didn’t set it right. Going to try it again using different milk.
Terrific, making yogurt has never been so easy. The temperature control is precise and accurate.

My first attempt at making yogurt in this was not exactly a success, it turned out a bit runny and not twangy enough, but i’ve got the hang of it now – this is what i do: boil 1 litre whole milk, whisk gently toward the end, pour it into a wide metal bowl, add a 410g can of evaporated milk, stir, let it cool to 125 degs f (51. 6 c) then add 8 dessertspoons of live yogurt, whisk gently again, pour into the larger of the two containers and let it develop for 8 hours. Result: lovely thick tasty creamy yogurt. Have made soft cheese too, using whole milk and lemon juice, delicious. This is a great machine and easy to use and it looks good in the kitchen without taking up much room.
As i write this review, i am eating my breakfast – fruit with my very own home-made greek-style yoghurt. It’s delicious; so creamy and thick. I used full fat uht milk and added 3tbsp of skimmed milk powder for a thicker result as suggested in the instruction booklet. I haven’t made soft cheese yet but did use the machine to make my starter culture which was from freeze dried granules and was perfect too. I have never made my own yoghurt before but this machine makes it so easy. I just can’t see how you’d go wrong. I was on the verge of buying the other lakeland yoghurt maker listed which was a bit cheaper, had free delivery and loads more reviews but decided to take a chance on this one due to cheese making option. Not sure if you can make soft cheese in the other one but as a complete newbie to this i wanted to make life as easy as possible for myself. Also this one came with two containers and a strainer for making greek-style yoghurt. The other lakeland machine doesn’t have these additional items included and to buy an additional bowl costs £5.
Yogurt comes out thick and creamy.
I have used amazons one that had 7 small pots but i wanted to make greek yoghurt and that was fiddly, scraping out the pots and draining it all through muslin in a sieve. This product has a removable sieve so after the yoghurt is made you simply pour it into the sieve, over the spare inner container, which is great. It would be even better if they included a spare inner lid so you could store one pot in the fridge, covered while you made the next, but all in all it is a great product and does the job very well.
I have had mixed experiences with lake land products but selected this on impulse. I already make yoghurt but do struggle with keeping to the right temperature. This machine easily holds a litre carton of milk. You set the controls to the time and temperature you prefer or use an automatic setting. I use uht milk for ease plus i always add around 1/4 cup of milk powder. I left it for 12 hours as i like a tang to my yoghurt. In addition you an easily drain using the cup for greek yoghurt. No more messy muslin cloths. I have limited kitchen space but this is pretty compact on the work top.
I have owned the smaller yoghurt maker from lakeland for years without any fault but i want to make cheeses too. This up-model does that because you can alter both the heating and timing to what you want plus it switches off when it has completed. I am also pleased with the drainer as i have previously had to mess around with gauze over a sieve to strain my greek yoghurt. This strainer goes neatly into the fridge to do the job and no bowls of messy gauze to buy or get rid of afterwards. It really needs an additional inner lid so that the next batch can be being made whilst the previous one is straining in the fridge. (lakeland please add this as a spare part) also it would be much better to have a retracting cable. Nevertheless, i give it 5 stars for doing it’s job and hope that it lasts as long as my last one. I am currently investigating different milk types. I have long life koko milk in at the moment and am hoping for a good batch of greek yoghurt at the end. My greek yoghurt fits exactly into my 0.
I have made greek yogourt so fr and really like it. Have just set off another batch for tomorrow.
Works great for yoghurt including soya yoghurt. Used alpro plain yoghurt as starter with non sweetened whole bean soya milk. Have tried making ricotta style goats cheese without success – perhaps some experimentation required.
Very easy to use, so far i have made 5 liters of yogurt , it took a little trial and error to get a consistency and taste i liked, but now use it weekly – not yet tried making soft cheese.
I use it for yogurt, greek yogurt and keifer.
Well designed and simple to use. The main drawback is that the containers can’t go in the dishwasher. Also note that to make yogurt you need to buy a food thermometer – it’s a shame lakeland don’t warn you about this in advance so you can order it at the same time.
Well designed and easy to use. Set it to 12 hours to get best result. Then strained next day to make greek style. Very good results with raw local milk.
I ordered my first yogurt and soft cheese maker via amazon, this unique one had been applied. I typically never get employed objects from amazon. I tried several moments to get the temperature as reduced as 25 c and it would constantly sit at approximately 30 c and that was with out placing the lid on. I depart the lid off to make kefir. I then analyzed it with water at 42 c, and with the lid off it went up to forty seven c. I returned this item to amazon pondering it was faulty. I have just acquired a new yogurt and soft cheese maker today and the moment all over again it has the exact challenge – or maybe this is not a issue maybe this is the the way it is manufactured. But i would have imagined if you advertised a temperature variety 25c to 65c, the merchandise would maintain the temperature at which it is set even with the lid on. The space temperature right here nowadays is 21 c, and with the lid on it shot up to 33 c, i am making kefir so took the lid off straight away as i do not want to ruin the grains. Perhaps this merchandise stays at twenty five c when the room temperature is very minimal ie 15 c.
The plastic yoghurt containers are flimsy and so i am earning the yoghurt in a 1 litre kilner jar which fits inside of beautifully. For the value it is wonderful and i hope it lasts as lengthy as the previous just one i had.
Can make an exceptional greek yoghurt, but unfortunately the location for 25c (which i would hoped to use for kefir) is unreliably warmer than desired.
Truly pleased with this item, it arrived on time. I created my to start with batch of yogurt the first evening had it with fruit for breakfast it is delectable. I would surely propose shopping for one particular if you eat purely natural yogurt i place in in my porridge and it preferences truly creamy.
I like to make my own yogurt.
Definitely a huge improvement on yoghurt makers of the earlier. I am utilizing uht milk which saves time and helps make attractive yoghurt, especially when sieved to make greek yoghurt, quite delighted. I just can’t agree with the prior comment who claimed the infills are flimsy, i never assume the are at all.
