So you will need to check freezer space but otherwise this is fab. Pre chill for 12 hrs, mix up for 3o mins and then back in overnight. The banana and berry recipes are phenomenal.
Makes gorgeous ice cream -so very easy -can scoop it straight from the maker or freeze further for a firm set -for those reviews where it turns out more like a smoothie -you have to make sure the ingredients are absolutely cold (i make my mix the day before or in the morning and make early evening ) and every batch i’ve made has turned out delicious ice cream -i have followed the recipe book that comes with it and now tweak mine by reducing the sugar and that has made it perfect to my families taste -great little gadget.
I am very pleased with this. . It makes a nice big batch at a time and is very easy to clean. If i put the bowl in the bottom of my chest freezer it is ready to use again within a few hours, so i was able to make several batches in a day for a party. Recipes are easy to follow and a good starting point. Plenty more on the internet to try out. . I haven’t had a failure yet. It is so easy to use it would be great for children to have a go (under supervision) as other reviews say it is a bit noisy for the 20mins or so it takes to churn, but i have mine in the utility room so it is not a problem. I imagine most ice cream makers will be equally noisy given the job they are doing. As with other makes you need the put the ice cream into a freezer to firm up a bit before serving ( churning almost solid ice cream would be too hard on the motor) the ice cream it makes eventually sets harder than shop bought soft scoop stuff, but this is down to the lack of additives, not the fault of the machine. You just need to remember to take it out of the freezer 15mins or so before you want to serve it.
Its ok but you have to freeze the container more than 12 hours for the ice cream not be too soft. It also goes very hard against the freezing side and that makes it lumpy. On the whole you ‘pays yer money’ its cheaper than most models and does what it says it makes ice cream. Others have said its noisy but not as noisy as a bread maker or kitchen mixer and its only going for 30mins. I have found make the ice cream and put into a container and freeze it.
- Makes great ice cream. Will not fail your expectations.
- Easy Ice cream -love it
- Great job, a ‘little’ noisy. Would buy again.

I’ve been making ice cream for many years and have worn out several ice cream makers – this is the best yet. Home made ice cream can out-class even the premium commercial brands for a fraction of the cost, so an ice cream maker is a good investment. This one is not the cheapest but it’s worth every penny. What makes the cuisinart unique is the design of the paddle. My previous magimix ice cream maker was prone to jamming. Once the mixture thickens a little the paddle gets stuck and can’t move. Most other ice cream makers have a similar paddle to the magimix so i’d expect the same problem. The magimix has a built-in clutch mechanism to prevent the motor from burning out, but this wears quite quickly. The paddle jams steadily sooner until eventually it won’t turn at all. I wore out two magimix ice cream makers before i discovered cuisinart.
Really pleased with this ice cream maker. I read all of the reviews carefully before buying and yes, it’s noisy (but not as noisy as my k mix mixer), but it’s only for 20-30 mins & the trick is to go & do something else while it’s churning. The ice cream is wonderful & my family love it. I made mint choc chip first using a recipe out of the book which was really nice – much much better than shop bought. My second attempt was strawberry, i puréed some strawberries & chilled overnight. Then added to a creme fraishe recipe and disaster, it all stuck to the side. I didn’t want to waste the lovely strawberries, so left it to thaw, scraped it out, stuck it back in the fridge, then found another recipe which added milk, churned again next day when tub had refrozen & it was the best strawberry ice cream we’ve ever tasted. Sometimes if it doesn’t work, its just a case of giving it another go. Next weekend it’s vanilla & choc fudge, ready for teenagers birthday party.
Very nice ice cream coming out. Needs freezing to stiffen further but otherwise satisfactory result. A bit noisy but i would think of it as a plus because then i know the ice cream is almost done when the noise is louder. My only gripe and i live in the philippines is that the ice cream maker’s cover has hairline crack. I don’t wanna buy again from the same supplier who didn’t put it in an amazon box but shipped it in its orig.
I looked at all available options for domestic ice cream machines including more expensive self freezing units but finally decided on this cuisinart ice30. I also considered the duel version but pleased i bought this one as it gives me the option of making a huge 1500ml at once. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I’ve used the basic sweet cream recipe out of the ben and jerry ice cream book which was delicious, adding melted chocolate (though too sweet so find a third less sugar perfect = 1/2 cup to 3 cups milk/ cream). Ben and jerry’s recipes use raw eggs though, not a cooked custard base. It was the most gorgeous, smooth, creamy, soft ice cream. I’ve since made a half portion of mint ice cream which the kids ate as soft serve straight out of the machine and a half portion of maple walnut which i froze overnight – the texture was exactly like bought premium ice cream, with no ice crystals. For these too i made one big bowl of the base recipe and just used half at a time for each flavour. No worse than you’d expect of a bowl rotating round a beater.
Smart looking, solid, excellent quality already made the delicious strawberry icecream – it disappeared very quickly with comments like “thus is much nicer than you buy in the shops.
Makes great ice cream which tastes far better than shop bought. You also know what’s gone into to it. As some reviews have said it’s a little noisy, however it only run for around 25 minutes and i just close the kitchen door. Good price and prompt delivery. Won’t be buying ice cream from the shops any longer.
I had always wanted an ice cream maker (mainly because i love frozen yoghurt), but could never quite justify purchasing one. We have only had it a few weeks, but have made lovely vanilla ice cream, chocolate icecream with grated chocolate, rocky road ice cream with mini marshmallows and chopped chocolate, mango frozen yoghurt made with greek yoghurt and tinned mango, and lemon frozen yoghurt made with greek yoghurt and lemon curd. Yes you have to plan a bit (ie put the bowl into the freezer), make sure the ingredients have been mixed and chilling in the fridge for a couple of hours, but it is worth it. I think other reviewers have commented that there can be a layer of more solid icecream around the bowl where the paddle does not quite reach, but i just scrape this out with a plastic spatula after i have tipped the rest of the mixture into a tupperware tub, and mix it all together. And sometimes it is a bit soft after the recommended churning time, so it does need to be frozen for a couple of hours. Also, i don’t find it a problem if it freezes solid, i just let it soften for a bit in the fridge before i want to eat it, or take the lid off and pop it in the microwave for 5 or 10 seconds. I definitely recommend this appliance, it is great fun, and will save us a fortune as we can make our own luxury ice cream, instead of paying almost 5 pounds for just half a litre of commercial ice creams. My next plan is to try a pineapple sorbet with tinned pineapple.
I thought having to keep the bowl in the freezer might be annoying but actually it’s not a problem and the ice cream is fantastic – very very simple to make or you can make things more complicated it you want. Personally i think the basic no eggs vanilla recipe is hard to beat.
Very very good ice cream maker. Significantly better than my previous one (which had the usual turning paddle arrangement) – makes more ice cream and better, creamier, quality. Robust and straightforward to use. I cannot see why anyone would buy an expensive ice cream maker with a built in chiller when this works so well.
Beautiful ice-cream, made quickly. The book comes with some recipes which i have altered slightly. My current favourite is regular chocolate icecream to which i add my favourite chocolate, maltesers or galaxy ripple are great. Can be rather noisy when it is churning, but i just close the kitchen door while it is busy working so not an issue. If you like ice-cream, this is a more guilt free way to make it without all the ‘chemicals’ in regular ice-cream. May 2016 updatetwo years on and my ice cream machine is still going strong, it is more expensive than some of the other makes but i haven’t had any issue with it, it still makes amazing ice cream.
I like that is very simple, since it rotates the bowl instead of the blade. – looks great, finger magnet. – the bowl material makes it very easy to clean and is incredibly soft. – works perfectly which is the most important part. – great bowl capacity, check if it fits in your freezer. – includes several starting recipes. The delivery and import taxes costed a lot more than the device itself but damn it was worth it.
I’ll start out by saying that there are very few commercial ice creams that i like eating, and mostly i wouldn’t even bother with them thinking that i just didn’t really like ice cream in general. I mainly bought this machine so that i could make sorbets and frozen yoghurt rather than ice creams. However, having made a few vanilla and toffee ice creams mainly for my partner, i can safely say that home made ice cream is far superior to pretty much anything you can get in the supermarket – i’m a total convert. What’s just as fantastic is that you can make pretty much any flavour you fancy – a huge bonus considering that supermarket ranges are so limited (to my tastes at least, whether it’s ice cream, sorbet or frozen yoghurt), and you can vary the recipe to make them healthier if you want by using semi skimmed milk instead of full fat, etc. As others have said, the bowl is quite big, so deep freezer drawer is required if you’ve got an upright, and the machine is also reasonably noisy but as it only churns for about 1/2 hour and the result is so delicious this doesn’t bother me at all. I would recommend getting some strong silicone ‘scrapers’ to ensure you can scrape the ice cream from the sides to mix in without scratching the bowl, asi found that plastic utensils were not quite good enough or strong enough for this purpose. A fantastic purchase and one i wouldn’t be without, especially during summer.
So considerably totally delighted with my ice cream maker and it feels like i’ve acquired a major piece of kitchen package. Beforehand owned a magimix ice cream maker so am now informed of the delights of residence made ice lotions and sorbets. I favor this to the magimix for the reason that the bowl somewhat than the blade rotates so it won’t sound like the engine is owning to function challenging (as the magimix could do often) and the opening by way of which you pour your prepared blend is a good dimensions. The build top quality looks really stable and i like their self confidence in giving a 5 year warranty.
Been given the device yesterday and washed the bowl and set it in the freezer. My freezer is quite smaller and genuinely packed so i left it in for about 20 hrs to make absolutely sure it was great and cold – and it truly was. I utilized it to make peanut butter sorbet. My blend was about 750g and fairly thick – far more like yogurt/toffee rather than slush – and i cooled it in the fridge for about 15′ prior to pouring it in the equipment. I took the bowl out of the freezer last minute and place the device alongside one another in seconds – so extremely easyi switched it on. Then i poured in the combine – very thoroughly clean occupation through the opening on the top rated. I absolutely would not have it in the same place i was owning dinner.
Really like this device for its basic thoroughly clean style and design and ease of use, i am evaluating this with a kenwood which i had for 3 decades – which the deal with clips eventually broke off. In addition marks for the cuisinart, relieve of use, completely ready to use in seconds – only bowl and paddle to insert lid twists on substantial opening at prime to pour liquid in. Twenty-five minutes mixing ice cream is prepared to pop in freezer not challenging frozen. – straightforward washing up, only paddle and bowl, no fiddly bits like kenwood. Also the entire device is more powerful than the k. Booklet a bit limited with recipes, but i make up my own and it performs correctly. Ice cream desires to relaxation for about 10mins when it comes out of the freezer as it sets really hard.
Procured to make ice cream with surplus comfortable fruit very last summer months. I locate that this is more helpful than some of the less costly options at earning batches of ice cream. It is quite noisy but does look to be impressive at churning. All in all i have designed some excellent ice creams and will be applying this all over again this summer months. The only downside is that you do need to have big freezer drawers (top smart) or a chest freezer to use the product.
I believe this ice cream maker is very superior for the cost. It has a decent sized bowl and is fairly uncomplicated to use. The ice cream preferences wonderful ( i use a vanilla pod as well as vanilla extract). It is fantastic simply because you know what components go into it, no preservatives etc. The only difficulty i have is it genuinely does make comfortable serve ice cream and commences to melt straight away so you have to put it in a tub and freeze it for many hours to company it up.
It is really big and you do will need very a little bit of place in the freezer to freeze up the internal bowl. Easy to get the job done and so significantly good results. The only draw back so significantly is that when churning some of the ice cream sticks to the sides of the freezer bowl so you have to prevent and scrape down each so usually.
